The results of the 2008 Best Small and Medium Employers (BSME) Survey have been tabulated, and SOCAN has been selected as one of the top 25 employers in Canada. In only its second year of participating in the annual BSME survey, SOCAN has now achieved a rank of 17th overall. The survey is conducted by Queen’s University, Hewitt Associates, and the Globe and Mail newspaper.
The programs and initiatives developed and implemented by SOCAN’s Human Resources Department in recent years, with input and involvement of employees throughout the company, have played a significant role in helping to achieve the objective of becoming an employer of choice.
“It gives me great pleasure that we have achieved the recognition we have been seeking,” says SOCAN CEO André LeBel. "I’m delighted by the exceptional progress we have made. We consider these results to be a major milestone in achieving our goal of becoming an employer of choice.
“This is the second year in a row we have started on such a high note. The Conference Board of Canada honoured SOCAN with a national award in governance in February 2007. To now be named a top best small-to-medium employer is extremely gratifying.”
