SOCAN made valuable connections with customers and potential customers alike at the day-long Halifax Chamber of Commerce B2B (business-to-business) trade show, held Oct. 23, 2008, at the World Trade & Convention Centre in the host city. The event allows Halifax-based businesspeople an opportunity to network with exhibitors, fellow business owners/management and business students.
In addition to manning the SOCAN booth at the trade show, SOCAN’s Tim Hardy and Erica Gallant discussed both SOCAN licensing and membership with numerous businesses and songwriters/musicians. Hardy held discussions with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), the Province of Nova Scotia and the Black Business Initiative. Each of these organizations is excited about working with SOCAN in the future to help better educate their members and clients about SOCAN licensing and songwriter membership.
The trade show ended with a prize draw, during which Stephanie Langille from Goody Baskets Limited won a SOCAN Roots sweatshirt.
