Apply now for SXSW 2009 – online only
SOCAN members and other Canadian musicians have until Oct. 24, 2008, to apply for a showcase slot at the 2009 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival.
The music festival component, to be held March 18-22, 2009, in Austin, Texas, is accepting showcase applications online only. Applicants are asked to upload music (MP3 files), a biography, a photo (Jpeg) and a press kit via the SXSW website or its link to the Sonicbids site. It costs $25 U.S. to apply before Sept. 26, 2008, and $35 U.S. to apply after that date.
SXSW showcased more than 300 international acts last year. Because the festival is aware of stringent visa and travel requirements, it prioritizes the processing of international applications.
