Along with many SOCAN members and hundreds of thousands of country music fans, SOCAN representatives attended the 2008 Festival Western St-Tite, a 10-day extravaganza that was held Sept. 5-14 in this small community of 4,000, located halfway between Montreal and Quebec City.

On Sept. 10, Stéphanie Falco – SOCAN Membership Department Relationship Specialist, Training and Industry Relations – presented a training session for all Étoiles Galaxie contestants and accompanists. On the evening of the same day, SOCAN presented its Best Song Award to SOCAN member Claude Cormier, from the Magdalen Islands, for "Un meilleur lendemain." The award, which comes with a $1,000 cash prize, was presented by the Étoiles Galaxie Patron, Ms. Claudia Asselin, to the first prize winner.
