SOCAN boosts online distribution info

SOCAN is continuing to expand its website features at www.socan.ca, allowing members who have signed up for online statements to access detailed pre- and post-distribution information on their catalogue activity through the site’s secure section. Initial features were announced in the Fall and Winter issues of Words & Music. Additional features available as of April 2007 include:

Access to a preview of your distribution statement approximately two to three weeks prior to distribution, indicating earnings information only (no details regarding opening balance);

Access to a list of unidentified audio-visual works for the current quarter, including the ability to search the files and submit, via e-mail, additional information regarding the audio-visual production.

This fall, members with online statements will also have access to:

Unmatched radio-performance data. Members will be able to search for their works and see any radio performances logged to date. The search results will include the station, performer/composer information and the airdate and time.

Radio-performance calculator. Members will be able to enter the details of their radio performance and will be provided with an estimate of the payment they will receive.

Remember, these online features are available only to those SOCAN members with a valid user ID and online statements. If you don’t have a user ID, select “Don’t have a user ID?” under the login box, or phone SOCAN’s Information Centre at 1-866-307-6226.
